A responsible investor

Looking after our clients’ investments and savings is a major responsibility, as is investing in companies whose operations can have a major effect on the society we live in and the environment we all share. So at BNP Paribas Investment Partners, responsibility is at the very heart of who we are and what we do.

Who we are and what we do: reconciling return potential and responsibility

Our approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR) seeks to reconcile our clients’ performance expectations and the social and environmental challenges that are emerging in a changing world.

Our approach focuses on two main areas:

What we do: designing investment solutions that benefit society

Integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria helps us identify issuers with strong growth potential and avoid issuers that are too risky in terms of the financial and extra-financial performance that traditional finance doesn’t assess.

To help our clients to invest more responsibly, we offer an extensive range of dedicated SRI strategies: equities, bonds, money markets, protected & indexed, balanced.

Who we are: leading by example in everything that we do

We invest in companies with excellent corporate social responsibility practices, so it’s vital that we are exemplary in everything that we do ourselves. That means minimising our impact on the environment, forging strong bonds with the communities in which we work and that we are part of, and looking after the needs of the people who work for us.

Only by adopting the highest standards of integrity can we earn the trust of our clients and the companies we work with.

As an asset manager, it’s our duty to protect – and grow – the value of our clients’ investments. We have integrated minimum ESG requirements for all the companies we invest in

Enriching our CSR procedures

Our approach to CSR is based on the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment, which we signed in 2006, as well as the responsibility charter of BNP Paribas, our parent company, and its commitment to responsible development.

Our approach does not stand still: we’re always looking to develop our practices. To this end, we have a dedicated CSR committee that coordinates all of our CSR actions.

It reports on its achievements directly to our executive committee. And as transparency is a vital part of our relationships with clients, we report on the progress and achievements of our CSR programme each year in an in-depth CSR Annual Report.
